Greatest Show on Earth

For 100 years LuLu’s Shriners have been sponsoring what some call the Greatest Show on Earth, the “Circus” in the Philadelphia area for Kids of all ages. Our first shows were held at our Mosque on Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia in 1909. For the past 69 continuous years the format has changed. We have used a traveling Circus format usually with three locations, one in Philadelphia, one in Bucks County and one in Montgomery County. These traveling shows were during a time when large areas were available for the raising of a tent, parking cars and taking care of the animals. But times have changed.

Our Three Ring Circus

Today our goal is still to present good, clean, affordable, family entertainment. To this goal we present seven complete Three Ring Circus Shows right on our grounds in an outdoor facility that can accommodate 4000 spectators on Friday through Sunday in May each year. Our Friday morning show is set aside for underprivileged children in our area. Schools are contacted in the beginning of each year by our Klown “Stinky,” who coordinates this program so every child has a seat. A couple years ago we also started to offer the availability of a lunch for these children at school lunchroom prices, of which many are now taking advantage.

Special Tickets have been set aside to Honor Our Armed Forces, Police, Fire, Rescue and local Youth Groups. These Special Tickets can be per purchased at half price with proper ID for the Saturday 11am show.

Our Klownz

We are very proud of our Klownz, an amateur group of more that fifty members who perform not only at Shriners Hospital for Children each month but actually do the skits for the Circus itself, as well as many outside performances all year long. Many of these individuals are professional business people who just love kids.
